We use the baseball diamond as a picture of the incredible life God has designed for us. Discovery Seminars designed for each base address a step in the life discovery process.

1st Base—Knowing Christ  The Discovering My Membership 101 Seminar that we call Seekers & Joiners is the first measurable step toward Christian maturity. Seekers & Joiners welcomes those new to the church or to faith in Christ, offering a non-threatening haven for exploration. Designed for those who are interested in becoming members of Discovery Church or simply in finding out more about Jesus or the church, the seminar provides a safe environment for discovery and discussion. The seminar is normally offered in a home on Sunday afternoon. While many participants choose to become members following the seminar, some take time to reflect on what they have learned and experienced before the faith steps of personal commitment to Christ or church membership. If you are looking to connect this is the place to start.

2nd Base—Growing In Christ  The Discovering My Maturity 201 Seminar focuses on the Four Basic Habits every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity. The four habits are time in God’s Word, prayer, tithing and fellowship. This seminar is designed to:

• Equip you with the skills you need to begin these habits
• Explain the tools you need to continue these habits.

3rd Base—Serving Christ  The Discovering My Ministry 301 Seminar is the third of four basic growth classes. The purpose of this class is to guide you through a discovery process of who God made you to be. We believe that once you understand who God made you to be, then you'll understand what God made you to do. The results of knowing what God made you to be and to do are fruitfulness and fulfillment.

The focus of the class is to help you discover your unique S.H.A.P.E. The objective of the class presentations, the assessment tools and your consultation with a Ministry Guide is to help you understand the five factors of your own personal shape. These factors are:

S – Spiritual Gifts
H – Heart
A – Abilities
P – Personality
E – Experiences

Believing that function follows form in ministry, the seminar is designed to:

1. To help you discover your unique design (S.H.A.P.E.) for ministry and commit to developing and using your God-given gifts and abilities in serving God and others through your church family.
2. To help you identify and serve in the ministry of the church that best expresses (and this is the key) what God made you to be.

Home Plate—Sharing Christ  The Discovering My Mission 401 Seminar is the final basic growth class as you complete your trip around the bases. In this class you will discover your mission in the world. The purpose statement summarizes the focus of this class to share God’s good news with others:

That I commit the rest of my life to being a messenger of God’s good news to other people, using my time, talents, and treasures for His kingdom regardless of where it leads or what it costs.

The Bible says,"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me to tell people the good news about God’s grace" (Acts 20:24)
