Our Challenge: There is nothing
more exciting or challenging than working with the youth of today.
Adolescence is a time of extreme stress, when young people are deciding
whose values they will adopt as their own.
Given that...
- 74% of teens admit a need for God but can't relate to the local
church...
- 70% of teens attending church today will walk out the doors
and not return in the next two years...
- 65% of teens who regularly attend church never read their Bible
outside of the church walls...
- there is less than 5% difference in the moral behavior of churched
and unchurched youth...
...we know that there is a need for student ministry
that impacts teens where they are.
Over 85% of those who accept Christ do so before the age of 19,
leading us to understand that relevant ministry to teens is crucial
and vital not only to their lives but also to the future of the
local church.
Our Mission: "To lead teens
toward an authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ."
Our Purpose:
- Reach - To share the good news of Jesus Christ with those
who don't yet have a personal relationship with Him.
- Connect - To create a welcoming environment in which
students can become known, nurtured, held accountable and encouraged.
- Grow - To build up and strengthen our students on their
journey toward becoming more like Christ.
- Discover - To find out what our particular gifts are
and put them into practice through ministry and mission opportunities.
- Honor - To celebrate God's presence in our lives and
honor Him with our lifestyle.
Our Commitment: Recognizing
the enormous challenges that face youth and their parents, Discovery
Church has committed itself to be a resource and ally to students
and parents of our church and community for their spiritual development.
Our Program: Our Middle School (gr.
6-8) program (Asylum), along with our Senior High (gr. 9-12) program
(Xtreme) utilize a variety of teaching methods and learning environments...Bible
studies, activities, retreats, camps, mission trips, service projects,
mentor relationships, conferences, etc., in order to have the greatest
impact on the diversity of learning styles and personalities that
are involved in Frontline Student Ministries.
